what we do here

The Army comes to town!

On Friday the 18th of May, Poatina welcomed 100 Army Reserve personnel to the Village.

They were here for the weekend, running a training exercise. As part of their training they needed to build a scenario around a village that had been stricken by fire damage, and they needed to maintain order and structure. They set their camp up in the swimming pool area, and even gave a helping hand during our monthly working bee on the Saturday!

Thanks to the guys for their help and having a bit of fun training in our village!

Here is a few pictures of the army at work and our working bee. All sorts of things were achieved over the day including, clearing trees from in front of the chalet (for an even more amazing view of the mountains from the restaurant) Sorting out the Wombat shop opp shop, Cleaning windows, Work at the sewerage farm, Helping shift building materials at the new Arts Center, Cleaning out the Craft cupboard, Cleaning the toilets, and loads more!

They really enjoyed their time in the village and even said they would like to come back again next year!
